CARMEN S. ITALIA, JR.

Carmen Italia is the President of the Montgomery County Industrial Development Corporation (MCIDC) in East Norriton, Pennsylvania.  Carmen has a BA in Sociology from Gannon University 1970.  Carmen’s Professional Education includes:

  • Licensed Insurance Salesman, Commonwealth of PA (Life & Health) 1971
  • Licensed Realtor, Commonwealth of PA (1984)
  • Various Real Estate Courses toward my Broker's License
  • Various Management Courses while at PECO

From 1990 until the present, Carmen has served as the President of MCIDC.  He is responsible for a full-service economic development organization that assists companies in site and building location services, obtaining low-interest loans and grants for building acquisition, infrastructure, and machinery & equipment.  MCIDC works closely with various municipalities throughout the County in developing their economic development plans, often acting as a liaison between businesses and those municipalities to overcome various problems (i.e., zoning, permitting, etc.)

Prior to joining MCIDC, Carmen had extensive experience:

  • Continental Realty, 1989-1990 -- Sales Representative
  • Philadelphia Electric & Conowingo Power, 1988-1989 -- Economic Development Representative, responsible for Northeastern Maryland and Chester County, PA
  • Lotz Realty, 1984-1988 -- Vice President of Sales and Leasing Responsible for the Prudential Business Campus (200-acre, 2,000,000 sq. ft. Industrial & Office Park), Horsham, PA               
  • Montgomery County Industrial Development Corporation, 1978 - 1984 -- Deputy Director, responsible for site and building location services, the Municipal Development and the Distressed Communities Programs
  • Pennsylvania Department of Commerce, Philadelphia, PA, 1974 - 1978 -- Regional Representative. Responsible for the marketing of various economic development programs for the five-county Southeastern PA Region.
  • Pennsylvania Department of Commerce, Ridgeway, PA, 1973 -1974 -- Responsible for the marketing of various economic development programs for the North Central Region of PA.

Carmen is married with 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
